Portraits

Our 2 family portraits finally arrived today. Each picture's size is 60x60cm and at $30+apiece, it didn't break the bank as well.

KPO

We were out at the new bar - KPO (atop the revamped Killiney Post Office) to celebrate Yuki's birthday. Can't recall the last time we were out clubbing (ever since dd came along that is). It crossed our minds to walk to the bar from our house but given that I was in my 3.5 inch heels, we reckoned it wasn't such a good idea. We droved and parked at the new Orchard Central shopping mall.
I realise that I am never far from 'mommy duties' as I took the opportunity to visit the post office which was located just below the bar to pick up one of dd's parcel that had been sent to us. Fortunately the parcel was not too big to fit into my bag so that I don't look too 'unglam'.

Upside

The upside about having a petite kid ? =)
You get more mileage out of her clothes (ie wear them for longer period), your diapers are cheaper cos you get to pick the smaller size, people mistake your kid to be 'brighter' just because she looks 'younger' (actually just an average kid and not so young) =P DD at 6 months old ! Interesting

Interesting moments with my toddler ...

I left dd at ah ma's house whilst I went to fetch dh from the office.
While I was gone, dd asked ah ma : where's mommy ?
Ah ma thought that dd would not understand even if she elaborated, so she told dd : mommy went out for a while.
DD replied : mommy went to fetch daddy from the office to come here.
Ah ma was stunned because dd was spot on tho' no one had told her these sequence of events.

She is also a real curious cat. Her non-stop "whats that?" or "whats this?"" can really tire the most patient parent out. And she asks the question even when she knows exactly what the thing is. So one fine day, I got tired *bad mommy* of answering her millionth "whats that" and I said "I don't know".

She promptly told me what the thing was. Then she asked her next question : "what are you doing, mommy ?"

I told her: "nothing, mommy not doing anything" Just to avoid having to do any explanation *bad mommy again*

DD (not about to give up) replied : "then what are you thinking mommy??"

I didn't know whether to laugh / cry.

DD is also a little lady that complains incessantly should there be any sun blazing down thru the car windows/ windscreen. She will insist on my arm/ hand to cover her eyes. Once when we were driving off after sm class, dd kicked up a ruckus just because the late afternoon sun was super hot. And since I was driving in front, there was no way I could use my arm to shield her, which was what she was demanding. For the first time in a long while, she bawled furiously in her car seat. And short of doing a 'britney spears' stunt, there wasn't much I could do. I am curious to know whether there are any 'reputable' sunglasses for kiddies out there?

On that same note,

Ah ma was ferrying dd to her house one morning last week when dd queried what ah ma was putting on in the car

Ah ma replied: Ah ma is putting on gloves and sunglasses because its very hot

That same day, when ah ma was driving dd home in the late afternoon,

dd told ah ma : ah ma forgot to wear gloves and sunglasses

ah ma: its not hot anymore so ah ma don't need gloves n sunglasses

DD: its very hot ! very hot! ah ma wear gloves n sunglasses ok?

Documentary

Finally found the time to attend a special documentary screening on M. Shichida held at DBS auditorium by the sm school.
It was an interesting show touching upon ESP, image play, instant memory, etc.
